Campfire Cooking Hacks

When it comes to cooking a meal over an open fire, the less you have to do, the better. And that doesn't mean your only option for a camping dinner is hot dogs on a stick.
Family Vacation Outside

The store-bought ingredients in these recipes make it easy and fun to cook a fantastic meal over the flames without needing lots of equipment. They also keep prep and cleanup to a minimum so you can get right back to quality time around the campfire, even if you’re just camping in your backyard.

Cheesy stuffed bread

Grab a loaf of bread from the bakery, then stuff with store-bought pesto and shredded Cheddar. The heavy-duty foil can be tossed when the bread is done.

Potato chip nachos

Potato chips go from sandwich side to the base for these loaded nachos. Pre-diced ham, jarred salsa, and pickled jalapeños are ready for assembly.

Mountain pizza pie

Pre-sliced sandwich bread forms the crust for these cheesy toasted pies. Pizza toppings (tomato sauce, shredded Mozzarella, and pepperoni) need no extra prep.

Easy summer veggies noodle salad

This fresh, colorful, crunchy salad is so easy thanks to pre-sliced veggies (find them in the prepared produce section) and bottled dressing. Unlike pasta, rice noodles cook in under 5 minutes by soaking in hot water that’s been heated over the fire.

Chocolate chip cookie and strawberry s’mores

For a fun twist on classic s’mores, pick up soft, chewy chocolate chip cookies from your store’s bakery and add sliced strawberries or a dollop of strawberry preserves.
