Let guests serve themselves with a pitcher of this simple, make-ahead cocktail. For a Thanksgiving twist, garnish with fresh cranberries and orange slices.
1/4 cup sugar
4 oranges, scrubbed and divided
2 (750 ml) bottles dry red wine
1 cup brandy
1 cup Triple Sec
2 cinnamon sticks
2 apples, cored and diced
ice, for serving
In a small pot, combine the sugar and ¼ cup water. Heat until sugar dissolves. Cool completely and add to a large pitcher. Slice 2 oranges and add to pitcher. Squeeze juice from remaining 2 oranges into pitcher.
To pitcher, add the red wine, brandy, triple sec, cinnamon sticks, and apples. Chill until cold or serve over ice.
Try a fruity Spanish rioja for the most traditional taste.
