How to Seed a Pomegranate

Colorful pomegranates are a delicious way to add holiday flare to salads, drinks, desserts, and more. Save money by buying the fruit whole and seeding it yourself at home.

Don’t be intimidated—our quick tutorial shows you how to get the most seeds from your pomegranate in four easy steps.  

Step 1: Using a sharp knife, cut around the midsection of the pomegranate. Be sure to pierce through the skin without cutting into the seeds. 

Step 2: Gently twist to separate the two halves. 

Step 3: Hold one half over a large bowl and tap with a wooden spoon to release the seeds. Repeat with the other half.  

Step 4: Remove any bitter, white pith that may have fallen into the bowl. 

Store seeds in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days, and enjoy!
