Ingredients

> 12 tbsp baking soda, divided
> Assorted food coloring (red, green, yellow, blue, etc.), as needed
> 12 large hard-boiled eggs
> Small paintbrushes
> Pipettes or droppers
> White distilled vinegar, as needed

Steps

1
To each of 6 small cups or bowls, add 2 tbsp baking soda. To each cup, add a few drops of different food coloring and 2 tsp water to make a paste.
2
In each cup of a 12-cup muffin tin, place 1 hard-boiled egg. Using a small paintbrush, paint the pastes onto eggs, taking care not to overlap too many colors.
3
Once the eggs are completely painted, use pipettes, droppers, or spoons, add 2–3 tbsp vinegar to egg cups to fizz. Once fizz reaction stops, dry eggs with paper towels.

Tips

To hard-boil eggs, in a medium pot, place 12 eggs and add enough cold water to cover eggs by 1 inch. Bring water to a boil on high. Immediately cover pot with a lid and remove from heat. Let eggs stand 12 min. Drain eggs and transfer to a large bowl of ice water.
