Ingredients

2 lbs red potatoes

4 cloves garlic

3 tbsp butter

1 cup half and half

1 cup grated cheddar cheese

Preheat the oven to 425°F. Peel the potatoes and cut into thin slices. Peel garlic cloves and thinly slice.

Grease an 8-inch round baking dish with 1 tbsp butter. Cover the bottom of the baking dish with a layer of potato slices. Sprinkle the potatoes with salt, pepper, and a little of the garlic. Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of potatoes.

Pour the half and half over the potatoes and sprinkle with the cheese. Cut the remaining 2 tbsp butter into small cubes and sprinkle over the cheese. Cover with foil and bake for 15 min. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 30 min. or until the top is golden brown and potatoes are tender.
