Miniature milk chocolate-covered peanut butter cup candies, unwrapped and cut in half
Steps
1
Heat oven to 375°F. In medium bowl, stir cookie mix, butter and egg until soft dough forms. Shape dough into 12 (1 1/4-inch) balls. Place 2 1/2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
2
Bake 17 to 19 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool 1 minute. Remove from cookie sheet to cooling racks. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
3
Mix frosting with yellow food color to make yellow frosting. Using photo as a guide, decorate cookies. Frost cookie tops with yellow frosting. Decorate with black icing to form zig zag. Add peanut butter cup half for ornament top. Let stand until set, about 1 hour. Store in airtight container.
Tips
Flat baking sheets are the best choice for making cookies. The flat sheets allow the air to circulate around the cookies, so they bake evenly and become the right shade of light golden brown. Lining baking sheets with baking parchment makes clean up a breeze.
Store cookies (frosting side up) in a covered airtight container with waxed paper between layers.
