Crustless Sandwiches

Skip the pre-packaged version and make these easy crustless sandwiches at home. The best part? Customizing the filling to whatever is your family’s favorite.

> 8 slices whole-grain or white bread
> 3 tbsp strawberry jam
> 3 tbsp nut butter, such as peanut butter, sunflower seed butter, or almond butter


Microwave the bread 5–10 sec., until warm. Using a 3-inch round cutter or a wide glass and paring knife, cut out rounds from bread.
Spread about 2 tsp jam onto each of 4 bread rounds, leaving a small border. Spread about 2 tsp nut butter onto each remaining bread round. Place one jam bread half on top of each nut butter half. Using a fork, press edges firmly to seal completely.
Enjoy immediately, or wrap each sandwich individually in plastic wrap and add all sandwiches to a resealable container or bag. Freeze sandwiches for up to 3 months. Add frozen sandwich to lunchbox to thaw by lunchtime, or remove from plastic and microwave 15 sec.


Save leftover bread in a resealable bag in the freezer to make bread crumbs.
