2 large loaves Italian bread

2 tbsp mayonnaise

1/4 lb sliced mortadella

1/4 lb sliced ham

1/4 lb sliced salami

1/4 lb sliced roast beef

1/4 lb sliced turkey

1/4 lb sliced American cheese
>
4 medium tomatoes, sliced
>
1/2 cup sweet roasted peppers, sliced
>
1/4 cup pickled jalapeno peppers
>
1/4 cup sliced red onions
>
2 cups chopped romaine lettuce
>
2 tbsp olive oil
>
2 tbsp red wine vinegar
>
Toothpicks (optional)

Using a serrated knife, slice both loaves of Italian bread horizontally. Hollow out a bit of bread on the top halves; reserve it for bread crumbs in another recipe or discard. Spread the mayonnaise onto bottom halves of bread. Layer with the mortadella, ham, salami, roast beef, turkey, and cheese.

On top of cheese, layer the tomatoes, roasted peppers, jalapeños, onions, and lettuce. Drizzle with the oil and vinegar. Top with bread tops and press down firmly. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 5 hours before cutting and serving, or cut each sandwich into 5 or 6 pieces and serve immediately. Use toothpicks to keep sandwiches together, if desired.
