Ingredients

> Cooking spray
> 2 lbs fresh cherries, pitted and halved
> 2 oranges
> 2 cups boxed yellow cake mix
> 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
> 1 cup low-fat milk
> Vanilla ice cream, for serving (optiona)

Steps

1
Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with the cooking spray. Add the cherries, spreading in an even layer, along with the zest of ½ orange and juice of both oranges.
2
Sprinkle the dry cake mix over cherries. Thinly slice the butter and distribute evenly over the surface of the cake mix. Drizzle the milk evenly over butter and cake mix. Bake 40–45 min., until lightly browned. Let cobbler cool slightly and serve with the ice cream, if desired.

Tips

Add the remaining cake mix to cookie dough or pancake or waffle batter.
