Make-Ahead Cinnamon Braids

These morning treats are the perfect twist on the classic cinnamon roll.

Ingredients

> 1 (13.8 oz) tube refrigerated pizza dough
> 1/4 cup chopped pecans
> 1 egg yolk
> 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
> 2 tbsp ground cinnamon

Preheat the oven to 400°F. Remove pizza dough from tube and knead, working in the pecans, until a cohesive dough forms.

Divide dough into 4 equal balls. Divide each ball into 3 pieces. Roll each piece into a thin, 5-inch strip, and lay out the strips out on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

In a bowl, beat together egg yolk and 1 tsp water. Brush the dough-strips with the egg wash. Separately, mix the sugar with the cinnamon, and sprinkle ½ of the mixture onto your work surface. Roll the dough strips in cinnamon sugar until fully coated.

Transfer 3 strips to a lined baking sheet. Press the bottom ends together, then work upwards, braiding the strips around one another until you reach the top. Press top-ends together to seal the braid. Repeat until you have 4 separate braids, then sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon-sugar and bake for 15 min., or until golden brown.
