Ingredients
>
1/2 cup ricotta cheese
>
4 oz cream cheese
>
1/4 cup slivered almonds
>
1 tbsp honey
>
1 egg
>
16 wonton wrappers
>
1/4 cup canola oil
>
1/2 cup orange marmalade or other jam
>
confectioners' sugar for dusting
Steps
1
Mix together the ricotta and cream cheeses, slivered almonds and honey until well blended in a medium sized bowl. Separate the egg yolk and egg white into separate small bowls. Add the egg white to the cheese mixture and mix well. Add 1 tsp of water to the yolk and mix.
2
Scoop out a small dollop (about 1 tbsp) of filling into each wonton wrapper. Brush the edges with the egg yolk and fold over to seal and make a triangle shaped dumpling. Repeat with remaining filling and wonton wrappers.
3
Heat the oil in a 12 inch skillet with deep sides over medium high heat with the canola oil. Carefully place the dumplings into the hot pan in a single layer (must be done in batches) and cook for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown. Flip, and repeat. Remove cooked dumplings onto a paper towel lined plate. Dust with powdered sugar, and serve with marmalade for dipping.
