Chai Tea

Chai tea was something of a flash in the pan a few years ago, but enthusiasm quickly waned as knock-off products entered the market. Real chai tea is creamy, spicy, sweet and indulgent. Do yourself a favor and give the real thing a try.

Ingredients

> 2 cups water
> 3 Darjeeling blend tea bags
> 1 tbsp crystallized ginger, chopped
> 2 inch cinnamon stick or 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
> 1 tsp vanilla extract
> 4 whole cloves
> 3/4 tsp ground cardamom
> 1/8 tsp nutmeg
> 1/2 cup honey
> 2 cups 2% milk

Steps

Bring water to a boil and submerge tea bags. Add all other ingredients except the milk. Reduce heat and simmer about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add milk and bring to boil, then take off heat. Pour through tea strainer or coffee filter and serve hot. Refrigerate unused chai tea. May be reheated.
