Mini Pear Tarts

You've probably seen filo in pastries such as baklava, where it's layered with nuts, honey and other fillings. Likewise, these paper-thin dough shells are perfect for making nutty pear tarts. With the addition of rolled oats and spices, these treats pack a lot of flavor.

Ingredients

> 1 tbsp butter
> 1 cup finely diced pears
> 1 tbsp brown sugar
> 1/2 tsp cinnamon
> 1/2 tsp nutmeg
> 1/4 tsp ground allspice
> 1/4 tsp salt
> 1/3 cup chopped walnuts
> 1 pkg ( 15 count ) mini filo shells

For Topping:

> 1 tbsp olive oil
> 1/4 cup rolled oats
> 1 tbsp brown sugar
> 1 tsp all-purpose flour

In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter; add pears, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt. Coat pears well and simmer about 2–3 minutes. Add walnuts and continue to simmer for 2 more minutes. Remove from heat.

Place shells on baking sheet. Scoop a little of the mixture into each pastry shell. Be sure to press mixture down and fill to top. Mix topping ingredients together and sprinkle a little on each mini pie. Place on top rack of oven and broil for 3 minutes or until slightly golden brown. Be careful to not let crust burn.
