> 1 large loaf French bread or Italian bread
> 1 lb Italian sausage
> 3/4 cup prepared pesto
> 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
> 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
> 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
Position rack in top third of oven and preheat to 425°F. Slice the bread lengthwise and then in half. Place bread on a foil-lined rimmed baking sheet cut sides up . Bake 5–7 min., until slightly toasted.
Meanwhile, remove sausage meat from casings. In a medium nonstick skillet, cook sausage on medium-high 5–6 min., until sausage is browned, using a spatula to break up meat. With a slotted spoon, transfer sausage to a medium bowl, discarding any rendered fat.
Spread the pesto on each piece of bread. Divide the sausage and mozzarella between pieces of bread.
Bake 6–8 min., until cheese is melted and bubbly. Remove from oven and top with the Parmesan and chopped basil.
Remove sausage meat from casings. In skillet, cook sausage 5 min.
Slice bread lengthwise and then in half.
Pluck basil leaves from stems.
If not already shredded, grate mozzarella and/or Parmesan cheese.
Bake bread 5 min., until slightly toasted.
Top each bread piece with pesto, mozzarella, and cooked sausage. Bake 6 min.
Garnish with Parmesan and basil.
