Michigan Sauce

This beloved regional topping for hot dogs is known for its rich, tangy flavor with a hint of sweetness. For an extra kick, garnish with jalapeños, or add a pop of freshness with parsley.

Ingredients

> 1 lb ground beef
> 1/2 onion, finely chopped
> 1/2 cup chili sauce
> 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
> 14 oz ketchup (1 3/4 cups)
> 1 tbsp brown sugar
> 3/4 tbsp white vinegar
> 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
> Hot sauce (optional)

Steps

To a medium saucepan, add beef and heat over low for 1 minute, until pink. Add onion, chili sauce, tomato paste, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce, if desired. Simmer over low until beef is cooked through, about 15 minutes. Serve over grilled hot dogs.
